I care about code quality
I care about code quality. But, I also recognize it’s a tradeoff.
My old boss didn’t believe in automated testing. He thought worrying about “code quality” was silly.
He’d say “We don’t need QA - we have users!” 😬
Result? He sold the company for $135 million.
I viewed software as art. I wanted to be proud of my creation.
He viewed software as a tool. It need not be pretty. It just needed to be useful.
One can make the mistake at either extreme, but I admit his success impacted me. It’s made me more pragmatic.
Ship and iterate.
