I finally switched to Arc browser a week ago. Wow, it’s fantastic.
Spaces are awesome. I often switch between multiple client projects, and personal stuff. Now I have dedicated “spaces” for each. This keeps irrelevant tabs out of my way so I can focus.
Favorite tabs are available across spaces. So I can easily access stuff like my email and calendar tabs from any space.
The vertical tabs work great. It’s easier to read and scan.
Cleaner UI. Hides the URL and tabs by default, but easy to see via hover.
When I hit cmd+T, it provides a command palette. I can enter a URL, open a split window, and search both existing tabs and the web.
I can hit ctrl+tab to view the last tab, and it remembers the last tab across spaces.
Uses less power than Chrome: https://www.reddit.com/r/macapps/comments/12n7162/part_3_final_browser_energy_efficiency_benchmarks/
It opens new window links in a modal window so I can just hit the escape key or click outside the modal to close it. This “reminds” me to close the tab since it defaults to “ephemeral”.
It’s Chrome-based, so it automatically uses all the extensions I had in Chrome. Same dev tools as Chrome too.
Reservations:
It auto-archives old tabs, so I have to be sure to “pin” any tab I want to avoid auto-archiving after a few days (Still not sure about this feature)
Not as efficient as Safari. So Safari is still my go to browser when I need to be on battery for many hours.
