A surprising thing about owning a Tesla: Nearly everything is automated

A surprising thing about owning a Tesla: Nearly everything is automated.

When I walk up, the doors sense my phone and unlock.

When I get in, the car guesses which direction I want to go.

When I pull up to my house, it automatically opens the garage and folds the mirrors. When I leave, it closes the garage and unfolds the mirrors.

When I unbuckle the car shifts to park.

When I walk away, it locks, rolls up the windows, and turns itself “off”.

When it’s hot/cold, the heated/cooled seats automatically turn on.

The built-in dash cam automatically records.

When I navigate to a charger it automatically warms the battery to speed charging.

When I navigate for a long trip, it automatically routes me to chargers along the way if needed.

If I wander out of my lane, it automatically pulls the wheel and alerts me.

If I use Autopilot, it automatically stays in my lane and paces the cars in front of me. If the speed limits change, it adjusts.

The car remembers when the air suspension has been raised for a steep driveway and automatically lifts later.

Overnight, it automatically charges to my desired level and installs software updates. Just like my phone. It automatically charges after midnight when electricity is cheap.

It automatically tracks my electricity usage and cost. (I’ve saved over $1,000 compared to gas over 8 months)

Plus all the common automations like lights, wipers, climate, etc.

These little things add up to a wonderful experience. Automation is luxurious.
