A developer's job in one word: communication.
We communicate with computers *and co-workers* via code.
We communicate via speech, written word, drawings, diagrams, gestures, and non-verbals too.
The better we are at communication, the more effective we are.
I’ve seen brilliant people held back by their communication style.
Sometimes they’re rude.
Sometimes they’re poor writers.
Sometimes they’re too shy to speak up.
Sometimes they struggle to clearly convey ideas.
Thankfully, communication is a skill we can improve over time.
