I love cars and I love driving
I love cars and I love driving. I enjoy reading and watching car reviews - even for cars I’d never buy.
Cars are awesome. But a city that prioritizes only cars isn’t.
So I support @TheWarOnCars.
Here’s why: I want to see cities support car alternatives and mass transit.
✅ Ubiquitous, separate, safe bike lanes
✅ Quiet, car free areas in city centers
✅ Walkable streets and high density neighborhoods with nearby neighborhood stores
✅ Convenient, comprehensive, and affordable trains and streetcars
Each time I travel to Europe I’m reminded that this is possible. Many “smallish” cities in Europe are easy to explore without a car.
I rode an e-bike all over Copenhagen. Their separate bike lanes are ubiquitous, safe, and enjoyable.
I traveled the UK, Germany, Denmark, and Norway via bike, train and subways. No cars. It was wonderful.
And I’ve noticed the most beautiful and peaceful spots in cities I visit are places where cars aren’t allowed. (See pic I took in Copenhagen)
Cars are often necessary. But they should be optional for people in cities.
Public transit and car alternatives can be this good. And they should be.

My favorite YouTube channel for this topic is Not Just Bikes.
This channel opened my eyes to how urban planning can create more enjoyable, affordable, and accessible cities.
