Imagine your CI build took only 5 seconds. How would this impact your team?
My take:
✅ We’d open PRs more often because they’re so fast.
✅ We’d fix minor issues more often because it’s so easy.
✅ We’d waste less time task switching and waiting.
✅ We’d write more tests because CI runs them so quickly.
✅ We’d iterate more because it would be “cheap” to change things.
For most teams, 5 seconds isn’t possible today. But the thought exercise emphasizes the value of speeding up CI as much as possible.
Fast CI is the foundation for rapid development.
