Some people “overdo” their job
Some people “overdo” their job.
Examples:
🚫 A software architect that over-engineers a simple problem.
🚫 A UI designer that redesigns something that already works well.
🚫 A scrum master that drowns the team in meetings.
The solution? Ask, “Is this necessary?”
The trap is thinking “it’s my job to do all I can, all day”.
Sometimes doing more work actually hinders others and creates *negative* value.
So, sometimes the right play is to do less.
Look for the sweet spot. Know when enough is enough.
George Washington’s doctors used an unhelpful technique called bloodletting. They removed 40% of his blood!
Washington’s chance of survival was greatly diminished because his doctors felt obligated to do something. But, they actually caused harm.
Sometimes work is like this.
