Some developers claim to be “over-employed” (working multiple full-time remote jobs). I've worked with a couple people who appeared to be trying it. They were ultimately let go for poor performance.

It's not just unethical - it's VERY hard to pull off. As a consultant, I work with 4-6 companies a week. I work 5-20 hours for each client. Switching between them is tricky. Scheduling meetings is even trickier.

What do you say to your boss when you have a conflict with another job? It would be horribly stressful.

Not ethical. Not worth it.
Clarification: There's nothing unethical about working multiple jobs. Many people work multiple jobs for good reasons.

But it's unethical to accept a *salaried* full-time job, and then try to do 2+ full-time jobs at the same time each day.
