Claim: “Employment is safer than independence.”
Reality: A job isn’t safer. You can be let go at any time.
So what’s actually safe? Competence.
Be so good that people want to work with you again.
And if people want to work with you, then independence is actually *less* risky.
Why? Because you can put your eggs in multiple baskets.
I work with ~5 companies per week. If one stops working with me, I’m merely less busy for awhile. I'm not unemployed.
Warning: Competence alone isn't enough. Being good at what you do only helps if the right people know it.
Opportunities don't float in the air. They're attached to people.
So, to increase your luck, increase the number of people who know what you're good at.
