If coding is hard, we're probably trying to move to fast.
Signs we're trying to move too fast:
🚫 Rework
🚫 Inconsistency
🚫 Unclear tickets
🚫 Bad requirements
🚫 Weak code reviews
🚫 Rampant copy/paste
🚫 Poor communication
🚫 Few/no automated quality checks
A dev team can only move so fast. There's a speed limit.
If we exceed the speed limit by cutting corners, we'll actually move slower in the long-term.
The solution: Make sure at least one person is responsible for optimizing *long-term* velocity.
