I just learned there is a 28,000 km (17k miles) long stretch of fibre-optic cable that runs all the way from the UK to Japan.
It’s called FLAG (Fiber Loop Across the Globe), and it’s largely undersea.
It was first put in service way back in 1997.
What an amazing achievement.
