Found a M1 Max 32GB in stock at my local Apple store and couldn’t resist!
Pros over my 2019 i9:
✅ Fast! Runs Jest tests twice as fast as my i9.
✅ Awesome speakers
✅ Getting ~8+ hrs battery life 😍
✅ M1 seems to use less RAM
✅ Cool and silent under load
Cons:
Had M1 compatibility issues with old npm packages (upgrading resolved)
MagSafe doesn’t matter to me. My USB-C monitor still powers and connects via one cable. 👍
Sadly, only MagSafe supports fast charging. 👎

New screen looks nice, but not brighter. And the 120hz is very subtle.

I set the menu bar to auto hide (fewer distractions), so the notch doesn’t impact me.
So, some letdowns, but the speed & battery life sold me, and they don’t disappoint. 👍
