Developers often focus on improving their coding skills

Developers often focus on improving their coding skills.

But it’s the non-coding skills that transform developers into true leaders:

Code review
Planning
Discovery
Security, performance, accessibility, & usability testing
Communication
Collaboration
Documentation
Mentoring
Yes, writing solid code is important. But if you aspire to lead a team, then strive to be exceptional at these non-coding tasks too.
The wonderful news is you don’t need permission to do these things.

If you act like a leader, people will see you as a leader.

As a manager, I promoted the people who excelled at these non-coding tasks.

Trust me, your boss will notice. 🙂
