Mistake 1: Ignoring new tech, so I end up doing things the old/hard way.

Mistake 2: Being so busy toying with new tech that I never get very good at anything.

I've found long-term success requires striking a balance between these 2 extremes.
Early in my career, I wasn't sure what to focus on. So I spent a lot of time learning a little of everything.

Now, 20+ years into my career, I spend less time going wide, and more time going deep on my specialties.

I go heads down for weeks/months, then learn in bursts.
